Confident Coding: a FREE self-help course for mental health in IT!
Are you working in IT and dealing with stress or anxiety?
Do you feel frustrated, tired or even burned out?
If so, this course is for you!
Stress
The IT world is a stressful place. Not only do we work hard at solving difficult problems, we also have to deal with demanding clients, strict deadlines, little to no margin for error, and keeping up with a fast-paced world that changes in the blink of an eye.
This causes stress: physical, emotional and mental stress — and I’m the first to admit that stress can get to you. We all have bad days, but for some of us, it’s more than just bad days. Stress leads to anxiety, fatigue, depression, addiction, burnout.
Confident Coding
This is why I wrote Confident Coding — a self-help course for mental health in IT. As a software engineer who went through burnout myself, I wanted to share what helped me in my own journey.
And that’s why I’m publishing this course today, 100% free of charge:
The course lays out a six-week program, with chapters on stress, anxiety, anger, fatigue, conflict and burnout.
The material comes from personal experience and is evidence based. It is especially rooted in affective neuroscience as developed by Jaak Panksepp, and put into therapeutic practice by Dr. Tom Herregodts:
Dr. Herregodts has also recently published a handbook on emotional therapy and brain management, which is available for free as PDF or EPUB.
Self-help
My course is designed as a tool for self-help.
I am a firm believer in the power of change, but I also believe that only you are capable of making that change and sustaining it. In this way, a self-help program stimulates a sense of accountability. Fundamentally, we are responsible for guarding our mental health, not our employers or anyone else for that matter.
Sure, mental health issues can seem insurmountable, but I’m here to tell you that things can change for you too. And it starts by you taking action yourself.
