Why I prefer Obsidian over Neovim for Markdown
From Neovim to Obsidian
A while ago, I wrote a post about shifting from programming to management, and how that started my journey with Obsidian for note taking.
Before that, I was a heavy Neovim user, but working in a terminal environment just doesn’t make sense anymore for me in a non-coding job. (Although I do keep using my Neovim+tmux workflow for my side projects.)
All in all, I must say that by now I prefer Obsidian to Neovim when it comes to Markdown note-taking. The app is snappy and I’m able to navigate almost exclusively by keyboard, including full support for Vim-style navigation, which is the number one thing I would sorely miss in any other environment.
However, I did try to set up Obsidian as close as possible to Neovim, with not only vim-mode (obviously), but also keybindings and some specific settings and plugins. Since my last post, I made some significant improvements which make my Obsidian experience even more vim-like.
